Alkaline Diet Celery Greens Juice Recipe.
This recipe is great for making accomplishments in your alkaline diet journey by cleansing and rebalancing your inner terrain. When I first began using a juicer, it quickly became a way for me to consume large quantities of vegetables in an easy way. I have always been a bit squeamish about eating raw zucchini, but when I add it to a juice or a smoothie, I could have raw zucchini in every recipe. The flavor it adds is very mild, it has a high volume of juice, and is very affordable, making it an excellent choice to add volume to your juices and smoothies.
You can read more about what brought me to the alkaline diet in the about section. The first thing that I changed of my daily habits was to add a fresh made vegetable juice as breakfast. I would make a trip to the grocery store, browse the produce section, and choose the best low sugar fruits and vegetables that I could find with the idea of making juice for the next couple of days. Since I was living in a hotel at that time, it was a challenge to store a large volume of produce in the mini-fridge. This meant grocery trips every other day.
How to store fresh produce for a long time.
What I’ve learned since then is that many of the produce we store in the fridge only needs to be stored in a cool dark room. I now use a repurposed shelf (a toy bin shelf I picked up at the thrift shop) and save clean boxes to hold the produce. There are many vegetables that can store this way for up to a week and even longer if the room is cool enough. I have an unfinished basement closet that works well.
Notice the kale on the floor, it is covering broccoli. I cover these with brown packaging paper to hold in the moisture, but the kale will only last a couple days here. What I haven’t ate by then is moved to the drawer in the fridge. Zucchini and mushrooms are also covered with brown packaging paper. It’s important to keep each veggie separated from the other because the interaction between them when touching will ripen them too quickly.
About two feet from the shelf I have a box of onions, a box with a cabbage, a box of ginger root, a box of sprouted wheat flour, and a box with all of my seeds for sprouting. All of these are in closed boxes to preserve them better as I usually eat them at a slower rate.
Onions always need to be stored far away from everything else because they will quickly ripen other fruits and vegetables. This can sometimes be used to your advantage. I have ripened groups of avocados fairly quickly by placing them in a brown paper bag with a few onions.
Storing food this way could help if you want to take advantage of certain produce items being on sale, make fewer trips to the store, or happen to join a local food co-op.
